Open Your World Book Club provides reading, social, and educational opportunities for adults and older teens with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Age-appropriate reading selections are used along with visuals and other built-in supports to increase fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
This session’s selection is: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. “The old miser Ebenezer Scrooge cares nothing for family, friends, love or Christmas. All he cares about is money. Then one Christmas Eve he is visited by three ghosts: Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet To Come. These encounters leave Scrooge deeply moved and forever changed” (Project Gutenberg).
