Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies allows children to practice their oral reading skills by reading out loud to a teen or grown-up, one-on-one! Perfect for helping students keep up with or increase their reading abilities during the summer months. Designed for school-age children from 5-10 years old (K-5). *Space is limited, registration is required.*

Reading Buddies are our teen and grown-up volunteers at the library who are trained in Active Reading and will be paired with your child so they can practice reading. Working with a Reading Buddy shows a model of what good oral reading skills look like, promotes reading fluency, and listening skills for children, all while having fun reading their favorite stories! Each child will have a reading log to write down their goals and track their progress.
