Literacy | Reading Buddies at Grayson

Reading Buddies allows children to practice their read-aloud skills by reading out loud to a grown-up one-on-one! Perfect for sharing the joy of books and helping students sharpen their reading abilities. For elementary school children ages 6-10 years.

Reading Buddies are our grown-up volunteers at the library who are trained in Active Reading and will be paired with each child. Working with a Reading Buddy shows a model of what good oral reading skills look like and promotes reading fluency and listening skills for children, all while having fun reading their favorite stories! Each child will have a reading log to write down their goals and track their progress.
