Open Your World Book Club provides reading, social, and educational opportunities for adults and older teens with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Age-appropriate reading selections are used along with visuals and other built-in supports to increase fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
This session’s selection is: The Gold Bug by Edgar Allan Poe. In The Gold Bug, a man named Legrand gets bitten by a golden bug and then starts getting ideas about becoming rich. Legrand finds a treasure map from a famous pirate. Will he and his friends be able to find the treasure?
