Finn McQuaid and his fiance Layla are driving along a highway in Northern France when Finn stops at a gas station to use the restroom.  When he returns, Layla is gone, never to be seen again.  It’s the story Finn told the police, but is it the whole story?   Ten years later Finn is engaged to Layla's sister, Ellen, with whom he shares a cottage in the English Cotswolds, but there's something odd about Ellen that Finn has never fully understood.  Then he gets a phone call.  Someone from his past claims to have seen Layla, hiding in plain sight.  Long-lost items from Layla's past that keep turning up, emails from strangers who seem to know too much, and secret messages, clues and warnings.  What’s going on?  Is Layla still alive?
