Did you know the importance of the Spring Equinox in Latin cultures? Come and learn about the history behind the Spring Equinox, how it marks the beginning of Spring and why you can see the Sun God (Dragon) on the pyramid when the sun hits it.
Historically the Spring Equinox marks the beginning of the agricultural season in Latin American countries as well as in other Countries worldwide. To celebrate the beginning of the agricultural season and the start of Spring the people in Mexico would celebrate for 3 days at 2 different pyramids through dance, chants and music. The pyramids were built in such a way that aligned perfectly with the sun astronomically so when the sun was at its highest peak it would create the illusion of the Sun God (dragon) traveling down the pyramid to bless its people on the start of Spring.
