Beyond the Book: Branding for Authors
What makes readers stick around long after they finish your book? In Beyond the Book: Branding for Indie Authors, we’ll dive into how building a strong author identity can turn casual readers into a loyal community. From social media presence and organic marketing to creating a recognizable voice, aesthetic, and online experience, this talk explores how indie authors can stand out in an overcrowded digital world without feeling fake, salesy, or chained to trends. Whether you’re starting from zero followers or rebuilding after burnout, this session is all about creating a brand that feels authentic, memorable, and impossible to scroll past.

Kait Ballenger is an award-winning author of dark romantasy and paranormal romance. She is obsessed with tales of morally gray, sometimes villainous heroes and can’t resist a spicy redemption arc. When she’s not busy writing spicy paranormal fantasy, she can usually be found grading papers, freelance editing, or with her nose buried in someone else’s naughty books. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Writing from Spalding University and has been teaching in both undergraduate and graduate creative writing programs for over a decade. She lives in Central Florida with her two adorable sons, where she currently teaches romance writing in Southern New Hampshire University’s remote MFA program.
