Join GCPL and an Employment Consultant from the Job Accommodation Network to learn more about the transition process from school to the world of work.
A Job Accommodation Network (JAN) representative will share information on individuals’ rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and how to navigate from the school system to the world of work, post-secondary education, or training, otherwise known as the transition process.
Topics discussed include the differences between the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the ADA, self-advocacy, disclosure, sufficient medical documentation, and types of accommodations that might be needed. Real-life accommodation situations and solutions will be discussed followed by a Q&A session.
JAN is a service of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy/ODEP.
Registration is required to access this program. Registration closes at the start of the program.
