Join Ranger Darling for an engaging introduction to the fascinating world of fungi. Learn how to safely identify common mushrooms in Georgia, explore their ecological roles, and discover their cultural and medicinal significance.
This workshop invites participants to explore the diverse mushrooms found across Georgia’s forests and gardens. Led by Ranger Darling Ngoh, a park ranger, data scientist, and mycology educator, the session will highlight safe foraging practices, mushroom identification tips, and the importance of fungi in supporting ecosystems. Participants will also gain insight into how fungi connect communities, culture, and conservation. Following the lecture, there will be a hands-on guided hike where attendees can apply their knowledge. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener and forager, this program will deepen your appreciation for the hidden kingdom beneath our feet.
