Celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with Gwinnett County Public Library and Gwinnett County Outreach with BiLan Liao, an artist, educator, author and motivational speaker.
BiLan Liao survived the worst holocaust in human history in China. BiLan’s family experienced discrimination and hardships under dictator Mao Zedong, losing everything they owned because her father was a doctor.
She was blessed with a variety of artistic talents: painting, photography, fashion design, journalism, and teaching. Because of her talents, she was granted permanent residency in the U.S. under the category “Alien of Extraordinary Abilities.” She became an American citizen and earned two master’s degrees in art to become an art professor. She explores the relationships between her personal story, Chinese history, and fine art in Diary of the Dragon’s Daughter.
