Readers and aspiring readers are invited to join us online to read, listen, and discuss adapted versions of classic short stories and novels. Registration required.
The Open Your World Online Book Clubs are designed for adults and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Readers and aspiring readers can develop their literacy skills by reading and discussing stories together. We use adapted novels and age-appropriate short stories. Visuals and other built-in supports are provided to increase fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
The ability to read is not a requirement for this book club. Participants will be assisted in reading if they wish, or they may listen instead and join in the discussion following the reading time. The text of the book is provided by screen sharing during the program, so there is no need to obtain a physical copy of the book.
In this session we are reading The Crossbow Mystery at Yellowstone Park by Jerry Stemach. This is a story of mystery and adventure in which Nic Ford and his friends try to stop a gang of poachers at a national park.
You can register for this session or any of the other Open Your World Book club sessions using this form.
