Attention all beginner birders and backyard bird-watchers. Join Jim Wilson as he shares photographs and information on the common birds of the Gulf Coast.

Full of photographs and informational text, Common Birds of the Gulf Coast is for beginning birders or backyard bird-watchers who want to learn more about birds in their area or identify the ones that they see at their feeders. 

Jim Wilson is a professor emeritus at Emory University after teaching neuroscience to graduate students and human anatomy to medical students, along with publishing about 40 research papers on the brain’s visual system. He took early retirement to pursue bird activities and served on the Atlanta Audubon Board of Directors for 12 years, including President, and became the Important Bird Areas Coordinator for Georgia from 2000 through 2007. He is the author of five bird guides including Common Birds of Coastal Georgia, Common Birds of Greater Atlanta, and Common Birds of the Gulf Coast.
