This program will celebrate the work of Lois Mailou Jones, an impressive African-American artist using black oil pastels to create masks.

Participants will create African Masks in oil pastels and by using the “sgraffito” method. This method is used to “age” drawings. Visually and aesthetically speaking, masks will differ not only from culture to culture, but in the intended purpose of each mask.
