April 22nd is Earth Day. Earth Day’s 2025 theme is related to renewable energy. Wind energy is the process of using wind to generate electricity or mechanical power. Wind turbines use the wind's kinetic energy to spin a generator and create electricity. Wind is the largest source of renewable electricity generation in the United States, providing 10.1% of the country’s electricity and growing.
