Join GCPL for the opportunity to unjudge someone by having a conversation with a person who has a unique perspective on life.
The Human Library is a place where a real person (a book) is on loan to a small group of guests (readers). A place where difficult questions are expected to be appreciated and answered so you can look past stigma and learn about how someone else lives.
Shaun Smith, Founder, President, and CEO of BlackPush Inc. will be the keynote speaker.
Space opens at 12:00 p.m. with the Keynote Speaker and a chance to review the book descriptions.
Books are available to read from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Human Library is a global initiative designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. Possible topics include: living with PTSD, bipolar disorder, disabilities, racial or ethnic discrimination, fat shaming, LGBTQIA+, recovery from addiction, refugee and immigrant experiences, or Islamic religion.
