Learn more about the transition process from school to the world of work.
A Job Accommodation Network (JAN) representative shares information on individuals’ rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and how to navigate from the school system to the world of work, post-secondary education, or training, otherwise known as the transition process. Topics include the differences between the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the ADA, self-advocacy, disclosure, sufficient medical documentation, and types of accommodations that might be needed while using real-life accommodation situations and solutions.
JAN is a service of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy/ODEP.
