When the Tea Gets Toxic explores the ripple effects of online drama, harassment, and hate. Participants will reflect on the challenges of speaking up and practice strategies for de-escalating online conflict.
What begins as an offhand comment can quickly transform into targeted harassment and widespread discrimination. This workshop challenges teens to examine the ripple effects of conflict and hate online and the personal dilemmas of speaking up. Teens will play a game about de-escalating online conflict, and then grapple with a scenario, confronting the often invisible line between bystander and upstander, and exploring what it truly means to stand against online hate when doing so comes with real social risks.
In support through Common Sense Media.
