A Lake with No Bottom | When Sidney Cromwell moves to rural Forsyth County, Georgia from the big city of Atlanta, all he wants is to fit in at his new high school. But when Sidney nearly drowns in Lake Lanier, an allegedly haunted lake that is the site of numerous inexplicable freak accidents and deaths, he becomes a social pariah as he starts to suffer terrifying visions from the past and hauntings by apparitions calling him to Lanier.

Sidney returns to the lake for answers, and he finds in its murky depths the spirits of former residents from Oscarville, the Black town that lies beneath the man-made lake. They enlist Sidney to remind Forsyth of its devastating history and push its citizens to make amends so that the souls in Oscarville can finally rest. But Sidney soon learns that people will go to great lengths to avoid facing truths they’d rather not hear. The people of Forsyth County refuse to acknowledge the past, and as Oscarville’s populace starts to lose their patience, their rage and thirst for vengeance rise like a tidal wave.

Hugh “H. D.” Hunter is from Atlanta, Georgia. He’s the YA author of A Lake with No Bottom, the Futureland series, and Something Like Right, winner of the 2025 BCALA Children and Youth Literary Award for Debut. Hugh is committed to stories about Black kids and their many expansive worlds.

Hollywood Edible FX is a behind-the-scenes exploration of edible food effects in film and television, where culinary craft meets cinematic illusion. Written by food stylist and FX artist Elizabeth Grove, this visually driven book pulls back the curtain on how food is transformed into blood, glass, body parts, mythical creatures, and unsettling props for sci-fi, fantasy, and horror productions. Drawing from over two decades of experience on major film and television sets, Grove shares the techniques, materials, and problem-solving required to create edible FX that look disturbingly real while remaining safe for actors and production. From breakable glass and crawling insects to raw organ textures and fantastical creatures, each chapter blends storytelling, process, and striking visuals.

Elizabeth Grove graduated from Culinary College in Los Angeles, where her career developed from Sous Chef to catering to the movie industry. After feeding the masses on set, the next career move to Food Styling was more challenging and exciting, with her period-specific food being featured in such successes as Saving Mr. Banks, Will Trent, Stranger Things, Tulsa King, Scooby-Doo and the remake of Roots among others. Liz has become a pioneer in the emerging food effects industry. She has spent her time on sets focusing on creating unique dishes for science-fiction and horror films. She looks forward to every new project, to see what new food styles she can present to the world.
