Fire cider is an easy-to-make DIY tonic that provides numerous health benefits, from aiding in digestion to alleviating cough/cold symptoms! As we near the end of summer, this program will teach the basics of making your own fire cider at home just in time for flu season.
Fire Cider, a vinegar tonic modified and popularized in the 1970’s, is an easy to make drinkable vinegar using herbs and ingredients common in every kitchen or garden.
In this program, we’ll break down the basics of Fire Cider, from its origins and its health benefits, to how we store it, how to drink it, and how you can make a sweet, spicy, and pungent concoction of your own.
This program will also cover common ingredients and variations, as well as uses for the cider – all while showcasing the library’s resources in digital and print media, and the tower garden.
