Be a part of the Human Library at GCPL by volunteering as a book or a book handler.
Gwinnett County Public Library is organizing a Human Library event on Saturday, October 1. The goal is to humanize the people behind stereotypes and overcome stigma and prejudice. The Human Library creates a safe space for dialogue where topics are discussed openly between our human books and their readers.
We need volunteers! We are looking for "books" to share their stories with attendees. Examples of the types of books we're looking for (but not limited to): people with different religions, ideologies, ethnicities, previous addictions, experience as a victim, social status, disabilities, genders/sexualities, occupations, lifestyles, family relations, and health and disease. We also need volunteers as "book handlers" to assist the books throughout the event.
