Are you concerned about climate change or just want to know what all the fuss is about? Join Climate Ambassadors from Climate Interactive to learn about MIT's En-ROADS and explore solutions with this dynamic, interactive tool.
During the workshop, participants will be able to visualize the impact of different climate solutions in real-time, using the En-ROADS Climate Solutions Simulator—a user-friendly climate model. En-ROADS will be used to explore the impacts of cross-sector solutions—from carbon pricing, to energy efficiency, to innovations in new technology.
Participants will have a chance to suggest a climate change solution, and immediately see its impact on global temperature rise along with co-benefits and equity considerations. As participants propose solutions, we will see how they add up to reach our goal of limiting global temperature. The resulting experience is hopeful, scientifically-grounded, action-oriented, and eye-opening.
The En-ROADS Climate Solutions Simulator is a global model that demonstrates how changes in energy, economic and public policies, such as planting trees, changing subsidies or pricing carbon, impact greenhouse gas emissions and worldwide temperatures. This dynamic tool lets participants see for themselves the impact policies they think will be beneficial can actually have on temperature and emissions. The interactive simulator is a fascinating way to explore what climate interventions are needed to effectively mitigate climate change. Developed by leading scientists at Climate Interactive and the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative, En-ROADS demonstrates dynamics in energy supply, land use, transportation, carbon removal and more.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops. The library will have laptops available also.
This program is free and open to the public.
